Strong dissatisfaction: Luoyang Museum's "Special Exhibition of Eight Ancient Capital Cultural Relics" stumbles Xi 'an.

On May 3, 2023, I visited the special exhibition of cultural relics of eight ancient capitals in Luoyang Museum, and found that there were many details in the introduction of Xi 'an here. Through the imprecise exhibition order, text description, chart statistics, etc., it seems to deliberately cover up the light of the ancient capital Xi' an. As a worker of Shaanxi Cultural and Cultural System, I am strongly dissatisfied with this behavior-

On April 26th, 2023, the special exhibition of cultural relics of eight ancient capitals opened in Luoyang Museum, which gathered more than 120 pieces (sets) of representative cultural relics from Beijing, Hangzhou, Zhengzhou, Nanjing, Xi 'an, Anyang, Kaifeng and Luoyang, and concentrated on displaying the capital culture of different regions and times. In the past three months, a large number of tourists visited this exhibition, which enhanced the popularity of the ancient capital Luoyang and deepened people's understanding of "the eight ancient capitals of China".

A large number of cultural relics from Xi 'an Museum are on display here, showing the cultural characteristics of the ancient capital of the 13th Dynasty in different periods, including bronzes of the Western Zhou Dynasty, weapons of the Qin Dynasty, pottery figurines of the Han Dynasty, and tri-colors of the Tang Dynasty. Among them, the bronze wares of the Western Zhou Dynasty, such as Ji Yu, Wu Wang Ji Ding, Tai Shi Xiao Zi Gui, and Sui Wang Wei, are of high value and rare. It can be seen that the strong support of Shaanxi Wenbo system for this exhibition also reflects the friendly feelings of Xi 'an people towards Luoyang people. However, how is Luoyang Museum doing?

At that time, when I visited this exhibition, I didn't watch it carefully because of the rush of time. Recently, sorting out photos and reading exhibition boards found many details, which obviously made Xi' an stumble. I began to doubt the professional level and professional ethics of the planners of this exhibition-

  1. Exhibition sequence: Why is Xi 'an ranked fifth?

This exhibition is divided into eight different units, which show the basic situation of the eight ancient capitals in turn. Xi 'an is arranged in Unit 5, followed by Beijing, Hangzhou, Zhengzhou and Nanjing. According to what standard is this arranged?

At present, there are four ancient capitals, six ancient capitals, eight ancient capitals and ten ancient capitals in China. Xi' an basically ranks first! If the reality is taken into account, Beijing can be put in the first place, and Xi 'an can be put in the second place. After all, people are the capital of the moment! However, putting Xi 'an in the fifth place is not hitting Xi 'an people in the face.

  2. Description: Chang 'an is one of the starting points of the ancient Silk Road?

In the explanatory text of Unit 5 of this exhibition, there is a passage introducing Xi 'an: "This is one of the starting points of the ancient Silk Road." At first glance, without thinking, there seems to be no problem. However, a closer look reveals that it is wrong. Chang 'an is the starting point of the ancient Silk Road. Why should we add the word "one"?

During the Western Han Dynasty, Zhang Qian set out from Chang 'an and opened up the road to the western regions. In 1877, German Richthofen put forward the concept of "Silk Road" for the first time, describing the transportation route between Chang 'an, China and Central Asia. On June 22nd, 2014, the Silk Road: Road Network of Chang 'an-Tianshan Corridor jointly declared by China, Kazakhstan and Kyrgyzstan was included in the World Cultural Heritage List.

In September 2013, when visiting Central Asia, state leaders said, "My hometown, Shaanxi Province, China, is located at the starting point of the ancient Silk Road. Standing here, looking back at history, I seem to hear the sound of camel bells echoing in the mountains and see the lonely smoke flying in the desert. " From ancient times to the present, in everyone's mind, Chang 'an is the starting point of the Silk Road, and it has never been described as "one".

  3. Chart statistics: Xi 'an is the ancient capital of nine dynasties? Luoyang is the ancient capital of the 14th Dynasty?

In the fifth unit of this exhibition, there is a chronology of the main capitals of Xi 'an, which shows the basic situation of the capitals of Xi 'an in the Western Zhou Dynasty, Qin Dynasty, Western Han Dynasty, Pre-Qin Dynasty, Later Qin Dynasty, Western Wei Dynasty, Northern Zhou Dynasty, Sui Dynasty and Tang Dynasty. In fact, Xi 'an is the ancient capital of thirteen dynasties, and there are also three dynasties: Xinmang, Eastern Han (Xian Di), Western Jin (Emperor Yu) and former Zhao Si. However, this chart gives people a feeling that Xi 'an is the ancient capital of the Nine Dynasties.

The name of this chart is "Chronology of Major Capitals in Xi 'an", which only counts the major dynasties and does not count the shorter dynasties, which may be reasonable. However, when I came to Unit 8 and saw the chart introducing the capital dynasty of Luoyang, this Chronology of Capital of Luoyang surprised me. Why isn't this the "chronology of major capitals"? Rambling, pieced together, all the dynasties that can touch the edge are counted, including Xia, Shang, Western Zhou, Eastern Zhou (the city of the city), Eastern Zhou (the week of the week), Eastern Han, Cao Wei, Western Jin, Northern Wei, Sui, Tang (including Wu Zhou), Houliang, Later Tang and Later Jin. This chart gives people a feeling that Luoyang is the ancient capital of the 14th Dynasty.

I shouted: it's too double standard! Counting the dynasties in Xi 'an, only counting the main dynasties. Xinmang, the Eastern Han Dynasty (Xian Di), the Western Jin Dynasty (Emperor Yu) and the former Zhao did not mention it; Count the dynasties in Luoyang, big and small. Do Xia and Shang Dynasties have solid archaeological basis? Should the Eastern Zhou Dynasty (King City) and the Eastern Zhou Dynasty (Cheng Zhou) be calculated separately? Luoyang was the capital of Western Zhou Dynasty, Sui Dynasty and Tang Dynasty. Don't you need to add parentheses?

You can raise yourself, don't step on others. Blowing out other people's lights will not make you brighter; Blocking others' way will not make you go further. As a unit of cultural relics protection and historical research, the exhibition held by Luoyang Museum should be clear in logic, rigorous in science and consistent in standards. Don't mislead the audience and suppress peers. Otherwise, the reputation will stink ...
