Labcorp plans to acquire the laboratory business of Tufts Medical College to improve the quality of diagnostic services.

　　(Medical News, August 4th, 2023) Labcorp, the world's leading innovative and comprehensive laboratory service company, announced that it had reached an agreement with Tufts Medicine, a leading comprehensive academic medical system in Massachusetts. Labcorp will first acquire the laboratory business and some operating assets of Tufts Medical College as the first step to establish a greater strategic partnership. Through this new cooperative relationship, patients and service providers in Tufts Medical College will be more easily tested, the waiting time of patients will be shortened, and the laboratory testing of Tufts Medical System will be standardized. This arrangement will enable patients and clinicians to be exposed to Labcorp's scientific expertise and advanced diagnostic technology in oncology, neurology and women's health. This cooperative relationship is based on the high-quality laboratory service of Tufts Medical College. Upon completion, the transaction will combine the important services, skills and technologies of the two organizations, further utilize Labcorp's leading clinical laboratory services, powerful data and digital tools, and a nationwide network of patient service centers to improve the provision of high-quality patient care. This relationship follows other strategic cooperative relationships established by Labcorp with a series of local, regional and national health systems, which have enhanced the services of patients and service providers. The acquisition is expected to be completed in October 2023.
