China Consumers Association: Food safety is one of the important issues that consumers pay attention to in the first half of the year.

Beijing business today News (Reporter Zhang Tianyuan) On August 2nd, China Consumers Association released an analysis of the hot spots of complaints received by the National Consumers Association in the first half of 2023. It shows that food safety is one of the important issues concerned by consumers, and complaints in related fields mainly include food deterioration or foreign bodies in food, which causes physical or psychological discomfort after eating; Failing to inform when selling temporary food, such as mixing temporary food with other foods or failing to inform consumers that it is temporary food; Ordinary food is disguised as health food, and merchants sell ordinary food without the "police tactical unit" logo and the approval number of health food as health food, claiming that it has some health care function and even has the effect of treating diseases; The number of complaints about ordering food in take-away channels has increased significantly. Problems such as unsanitary take-away food, lax packaging, spillage, untimely delivery, asking for praise, and bad controversial attitude frequently occur.

In this regard, the China Consumers Association said that in the hot summer, food safety issues have entered a period of high incidence. Catering industry should strengthen the awareness of the first person responsible for food safety, strictly abide by the provisions of food safety standards, keep the bottom line of food safety, continuously improve the quality and level of service, and ensure the health of consumers' diet. Relevant departments should strengthen normal supervision, standardize the food market order, and severely crack down on all kinds of illegal acts in violation of food safety management regulations. In addition, all sectors of society should strengthen food safety publicity and education to improve consumers' food safety awareness and self-protection ability.

Moreover, consumers should pay attention to distinguish between health food and ordinary food. Health food can claim health care function, while ordinary food cannot claim health care function. There will be a sky-blue "hat" logo on the package or label of health food, commonly known as "Little Blue Hat" or "police tactical unit". It is important to note that since October 1, 2018, the QS mark has been no longer used in food safety certification, and the new SC code has been used instead. QS mark is a quality and safety market access system implemented in the field of food production in China since 2004, and it has stopped being used. The Food Safety Law stipulates that the number of food production license should be marked on food packaging. The food production license number-SC code consists of 14 digits, and different digits represent different meanings, which can realize the traceability management of products. Consumers should pay attention to identification when buying.
