The last speech of a 76-year-old Russian man in court that day when I can't live for national freedom.

On August 2nd, Anatoly Rosin (анатолийрощин), a 76-year-old man accused of repeatedly smearing the Russian army, made his final speech at the Summer Town Court in Moscow. He expressed his hope that Russia would become a democratic and free country, but he felt sad that he would never see that day in his lifetime.

  The old man said:

"Dear court, I have a dream. I dream that my country will return to the ranks of peace-loving democracies. It is still far from being realized. I hope that all kinds of actions (mass movements, individual protests) I have participated in can help my country return to the normal path of democratic development. In this way, a large number of people who have left our country-they are the light of thought, science and technology-will return to our country, and our country will eventually be proud of the great achievements in cancer treatment and other scientific achievements instead of the most advanced weapon system. In this way, we have a sufficient number of scientists, who have successfully trained great talents and will be able to compete on an equal footing in various international affairs, which will be in the interests of all human civilization, instead of being accused of committing state crimes and treason. I really hope so. But I'm afraid the situation in our country will prevent me from living to that time. But I want to know somewhere in heaven that my labor has not been in vain. I did my best for this, so I have a clear conscience in front of the future. "

Rosin told reporters that what he did was "what any Russian citizen should do" because he hoped his country would become a peaceful and democratic country stipulated in the Constitution. The 75-year-old summer town activist was accused of posting three posts on the social network Vkontakte, "repeatedly denigrating the army". The prosecution demanded a fine of 200,000 rubles and house arrest. Rosin himself did not plead guilty. Rosin is a descendant of the Soviet Union Red Army. His father, Lao Rosin, set out from Kharkov tractor factory, which produced tanks, to fight against the fascist invaders in an armored car. He was seriously injured, but he returned to the front line and arrived in Berlin.

His last trip to Ukraine was in 2019. He bought a Ukrainian flag there and took it to the rally in Moscow. In March 2023, the national flag was confiscated during a search. A few days before the war, he wrote in a newspaper: "Ukraine and Russia are my parents' hometowns. Curse those who quarrel with us! " -and stand in front of the summer town government with a poster. After ten such protests, he was sentenced to administrative punishment.
