On August 1, six well-known scholars, writers, including Nie Zhenning, Huang Guorong, Cui Daiyuan, Hou Lei, Song Zhuangzhuang and Chen Xuejing, and other promoters of previous Beijing gold medals read in Xinhua Bookstore for Bao Bookstore.

　　The theme reading sharing meeting of "I am studying in Beijing" and the selection activities of Shuxiang Capital Series were launched.

　　In the reading sharing session on the theme of "I am studying in Beijing", the guests first introduced and recommended the recently published new books, including excellent works selected as "Good Books in Beijing" and innovative works around Beijing culture. Later, the guests shared their experiences and methods of reading and writing with readers. Sun Chang and Zheng Lei, hosts of Beijing Radio and Television Station, read the book fragments on the spot, so that readers can feel the power of words more intuitively.

　　Nie Zhenning, a well-known national reading promoter and chairman of Taofen Foundation, shared the topic "Scholar's Travel-Educational Story of Youth, Love and Soul".

　　This year's selection activity began to collect from the society on August 1, 2023. The selection activities revolve around the theme of "Scholarly Books Initiate New Articles, Strive for Brilliance", organize a series of selection activities for the scholarly capital, select and recommend excellent reading promotion institutions or individuals in Beijing, give full play to the exemplary role of advanced models, promote the in-depth reading activities of the whole people, create a good atmosphere of loving reading, reading well and being good at reading in the whole society, and comprehensively improve the construction level of scholarly capital.

　　The book-reading capital series awards include seven awards, namely, excellent reading projects for all people in Beijing, excellent reading cases for all people, gold medal reading promoters, scholarly families, scholarly communities, scholarly institutions and scholarly enterprises. Individuals or units participating in the 2023 Scholarly Capital Series Selection must adhere to the road of cultural development in Socialism with Chinese characteristics, consciously practice the socialist core values, actively spread and promote the excellent Chinese traditional culture, and promote the distinctive features of Beijing's "Four Cultures", and also meet the corresponding conditions of each sub-item selection activity. After being selected, you need to participate in public welfare activities in Beijing reading season more than three times a year.
