Mangroves mainly grow in intertidal zones along tropical and subtropical coasts. It is one of the three major blue-carbon ecosystems along the coast, and plays an important role in purifying seawater, preventing wind and waves, fixing and storing carbon, and maintaining biodiversity. Scientific assessment shows that they can absorb two to four times more carbon than terrestrial forests, so they are considered as a key component of nature-based climate change solutions. After learning about the introduction and cultivation process of mangroves in Shanghai, the China project team of JAL Logistics was deeply moved, and at the same time, it was admired for Professor Zhong Yang's determination to establish a coastal forest for Shanghai.

According to Zhong Guixiang, director of Leyang Public Welfare Center, this public welfare project is based on the sustainable development concept of Japan Post Logistics, following Professor Zhong Yang's research on "Mangroves Moving northward", aiming at primary and secondary school students and children in distress in Shanghai, taking the positive development of children as the main line and combining mangrove ecological science knowledge, and cultivating 100 "China Blue Carbon Stars of Japan Post Logistics" for Shanghai through entertaining and educating, thus advocating ecological environment protection and sustainable development.

Japan Post Logistics said that it is a great honor to build this natural barrier for the beach wetland in Shanghai Lingang, forming a plant engine for carbon fixation and carbon sequestration, and contributing to it; At the same time, we will fully support Leyang to pay attention to the positive development of children, cultivate a low-carbon and environmentally-friendly life concept through popular science education, and extend it to the general public, so that more people will pay attention to the issues of ecological environmental protection and sustainable development. It is expected that with the efforts of all parties, a beautiful mangrove forest inhabited by fish, insects, flowers and birds will be ushered in the harbor coast of Shanghai in the next few decades and hundreds of years.
